TranSys Vehicle Brokerage

Overview

Rural bus services are usually not profitable, without substantial extra funding by local or central government in the form of subsidies or other financial schemes, the services are destine to continue to decline. Through out the country there are a great many mini-busses lying idle, many of these belong to charities that have worked hard to fund their purchase. If these vehicles could be utilised for the advantage of other groups and the community all concerned would benefit. The KL2 VB software is designed to be a database of all the information necessary to bring together those with vehicles (lenders) and those that require vehicles (borrowers).

Requirements

The “Vehicle Brokerage” module is part of a comprehensive transport software package produced by KL2 and called TranSys. The VB module will work either as a stand-alone package or in conjunction with other modules, resources used in one module may be included or excluded from other modules. The system is designed to work as a stand-alone application or as part of a network.

Functionality

The VB application uses an industrial strength SQL database (SQL Server) made by Microsoft, this is usually maintained in some IT knowledgeable location where the necessary housekeeping of back-ups can be performed. Any number of client machines may access this database, these may be located locally or more likely in some remote location, even over the internet. The database contains information about lenders and their vehicles, including a record of the vehicles availability.
