Overview
The Voluntary
Car Transport module of TranSys is used by the voluntary transport section to manage and control their
operation. The "VCT" module is part of a comprehensive transport software package
and may be used as a stand-alone application or in conjunction with other
TranSys modules. Each module uses a common database of clients and resources.
Data within the database may be shared with other modules if required. This
being beneficial when an organisation is running an integrated transport policy.
Voluntary transport departments are, by definition, under time and resource
pressure. Finding volunteers available to carry out journeys, estimating journey
times, tracking mileage travelled, nominal mileages and dead mileage. Both the
day-to-day operation of the department and the more removed compilation of
travel statistics are equally important to a community transport department.
Functionality
TranSys is a comprehensive transport application with VCT forming just one
module. This means that within a combined transport department resources may be
shared while maintaining an overall picture of resource utilisation. The

Tasks & reminders
The application will use this information to maintain an overall picture of
what resources (vehicles, drivers, and escorts) are being used each hour of the
day each day of the week. This information can be presented in either a
graphical form or used automatically by the system to present available options
when resources are required.
